2201 Buena Vista Road

After receiving a B.A. from Wake Forest University, John decided to learn the building business first-hand working as a laborer and carpenter. With this experience, John went into residential construction and 33 years later remains a hands-on owner on his projects, providing personal supervision of the work and consultation with first time or repeat customers until the successful completion of each job. Taking the vision and needs of the homeowner, John guides them through the decisions and options of construction until the project is a workable, quality space for the family.

Family living addition to existing 1924 brick cottage. 18ft x 32ft den opens into kitchen and dining room and features barrel vaulted ceiling, tall bay window and stained Liptus paneling and trim. The Rumford fireplace has a cast stone surround, and a built-in wet-bar has honed granite countertops. The addition also includes a small office, and a powder room with marble console and hammered nickel sink. Also added were a large screen porch, fireplace and a bluestone terrace. The exterior was transformed with white paint, green shutters, and roof, echoing the style of Reynolda.
